Open to everyone. Good preparation for the British Sprints weekend. Complex urban housing estate.

Race 1 is a plain sprint race - same course for all. Race 2 is a mass start at 1915 with course variations to simulate head-to-head relay racing. Results for SN League based on combined time.

Course Information

Same courses for everyone. Race 1 optimum distance 2.1k, Race 2 full course optimum distance 2.4k, but can be shortened to less than 2k by missing out one or more loops. Only the full courses count towards SN League, which will be based on combined times for the two races.
Map is A4 1:4000 scale, sprint specification. No loose descriptions (pictorial only - printed on map).

Seniors £4, Juniors £1.50. (£1 discount for SN adults with usual discount code)
Closing date Sun 14 June for a guaranteed map. Limited later entry subject to map availability

Registration & Start Times

Race 1 starts from 1745 to 1830 (queue and go - no pre-allocated times). You must have finished and returned to download no later than 1900. Start/finish for Race 1 are close together less than 250m from car park. Race 2 mass start at 1915 - gather at assembly/download at 1905 for 600m escorted walk to start. Race 2 finish is near Race 1 start. Courses close 2000 - you must return to Download by that time.

Facilities

None. No nearby public toilets. Please plan ahead - it's a public recreational/residential area with few places to hide.

Typical urban streets. Many parked vehicles. Some slow moving traffic. Lots of blind corners and trip hazards, please take care, and show courtesy to local residents and pedestrians. Under 12's must be accompanied by an adult, Under 16's may run solo.

Neither Southern Navigators, the landowner or British Orienteering can be held liable for any accident or other incident arising while undertaking the event. Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event - including clothing appropriate for the conditions, and if required, a means of summoning assistance (e.g. phone or whistle).
After forest orienteering, please check thoroughly for ticks and remove immediately if you find them. Lyme Disease is on the increase in the South East!
