SN medallists at WMOC 2025!
Two SN members won medals at the recent World Masters Orienteering Championships (WMOC) held in Girona, Spain. Sarah was 2nd in W45 at the Sprint event, missing gold by just 6 seconds. Woo was second in the Middle distance, missing the top step of the podium by only 4 seconds! Two excellent performances nonetheless, and both of them also achieved highly respectable 4th places in the Long distance final.
Further details and photos can be found here.
WMOC is an annual event open to all orienteers over the age of 35, with associated public races for younger attendees. Next year's event is in Poland.

British Championships weekend
Sat/Sun 10/11 May
Nearly 30 SN members will be in Cumbria for the British Long Distance individual championships on Sat 10 May, with seven SN teams in the forest Relay championships on Sun 11 May. It promises to be a demanding weekend, both physically and navigationally, on some top quality Lake District terrain.
Follow the event via www.theboc.org.uk where there should be links to results and photos in due course. Good luck to all who are taking part!
Hogmoor results
Apologies for delay
We hope you all enjoyed the event at Hogmoor on Saturday. Results will be posted soon. We were without some of our usual expertise this weekend due to multiple prior commitments among our regular volunteers.
Congratulations to all of the prize winners from the 2024/5 Junior League and a big thank you to Gill for coordinating and administering both the scoring and the trophies.
There will be a few informal events during the summer months, including some as part of our midweek "training" evenings, and the Saturday Series featuring the 2025/6 Junior League will return in September.
SN successes at JK2025
... and not only in the forest!
Medals are hard earned at any JK and 2025 was no exception. Few competitors had winning runs on all days as the different disciplines tested all our skills. SN's only overall individual winner was Sarah in W45, with victory in both sprint and middle distance and second in the long race. Ruth and Tommy got 2nd places in the Sheffield city centre sprint.
In the relays near Leeds we achieved a 2nd place in Senior Women (Katherine, Mel, Sarah) and a 3rd place in Veteran Women (Carol, Lucy, Sue).
In the UK's first biathlon medal competition there was a 2nd for Jake in Junior Men (16-) and a 3rd for Paul in Veteran Men (50+). The combination of orienteering and electronic rifle shooting was a very popular ancillary activity at JK25 and will hopefully be repeated at some future events.
It's Easter, it's JK 2025!
Yorkshire beckons
This weekend more than 40 SN members will be heading to Yorkshire to attend the UK's largest annual orienteering gathering: the JK Festival. You can absorb the scale and atmosphere of the weekend's activities by visiting www.thejk.org.uk , including links to the start lists and results in due course. With a city sprint on Friday, middle and long distance races at the weekend, and relays on Monday there should be plenty to follow on the live results pages. Look out for your favourite SN colleagues and cheer them on from afar!
