In car park next to Windlesham Field >> ///state.force.dared
There's 2 courses, course A goes past the start / finish at half way, so can be split in 2, the 2nd half being more technical, if anyone just wants to do that.
course A (optimal route 6.6k, split is 3.0 and 3.6k)
course B (optimal route 3.8k)
Both courses involve roads, so under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Free to club members
Starts from 18:00. All to finish by 20:00
Mostly roads, with a few hundred metres in forest, road shoes fine.
There are several crossings of the main roads through Windlesham, it's planned so any roads used have pavements on at least 1 side. Please take care crossing!! There are lots of parked cars obstructing views, and lots of cutting road corners on minor roads. Roads without pavements are marked as Out of Bounds, but you've taken a very bad route if you go this way. There is one crossable wall - this is above hip height for me, nimble runners can jump it. Going an alternative route is equal or very minor disadvantage (especially given the time to jump the wall, unless you're Colin Jackson).
Organiser: Nick Cooper
Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser. Competitors are responsible for their own personal safety and for assessing their own abilities to complete the course. Neither Southern Navigators, the landowner or British Orienteering can be held liable for any accident or other incident arising while undertaking the event. Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event - including clothing appropriate for the conditions, and if required, a means of summoning assistance (e.g. phone or whistle).
After forest orienteering, please check thoroughly for ticks and remove immediately if you find them. Lyme Disease is on the increase in the South East!
Insurance: All participants are covered by the British Orienteering third-party liability insurance policy. (NB: This is not a personal injury policy).
