Pre Event Info

Directions / Parking

Registration, start and finish will be next to the main playground in Woking Park, which is situated between the Leisure Centre and Pool in the Park. Park in public car park; charges apply if you stay longer than 3 hours.

Course Information

A friendship relay is comprised of teams of three, and everyone starts at the same time. We encourage you to be in a team of people you don't know very well, with a mixture of ages, genders and orienteering experience. The emphasis is on fun and co-operation, rather than competition!

Maps will show 30 controls, as a score event (blank example here), but 4 of the controls are joined together like a line course, called the "spine". The team must meet up at all spine controls, and punch their SI cards within 10 seconds of each other.

The teams will decide how to share out the rest of the controls and which member visits which control. The winner will be the team that returns to the finish in the shortest time, having visited all the controls.

Tip: the best teams will be those that come up with a good plan at the start of the course, and think on their feet whilst out running. It may be a good idea to redistribute controls when you meet up at a spine control! Also bring a pen.

Individuals can run the course as a score if they like - they must find all 30 controls in the fastest time possible.

Entry Details

Teams of three to be entered on the day. We'd encourage you not to organise a team in advance. Please turn up and find people to run with when you're there - ideally with people you don't know very well, and including at least one junior. It's a fun event and the aim is to get to know other team members, not necessarily to win!

Individuals can run the course as a score.
